Technology Requirements

An UC Account with GoogleApps and GoogleDocs Workspace

You will be able to create and share text documents, presentations and spreadsheets in your own Google Drive workspace, using the free Google applications that come with your UC email account at (opens in a new browser window). 

After logging-in with your UC email username and password, your web browser will display a Gmail page. Select the icon at the top right of the Gmail page and select Drive from the menu.

Once in the Google Drive page, you will be able to import or create text documents, presentations, forms and spreadsheets by choosing any of those options when you select the New button on the left side of the page. You can find links to help for Using Google Drive in the Helps page under the Course Home menu in any course.

Free Media Players for viewing course audio, video or animated content

A Flash-enabled web browser for viewing content, such as interactive animations or certain videos. To test whether your browser is using the most recent version of Adobe's Flash Player® (for Mac and Windows PC), visit the, where you will be prompted to download a newer version if your web browser needs it.

Utility Programs

Acrobat Reader® for viewing and printing PDF Documents.

Free Skype® account for audio chat and/or online video meeting via web cam with or without screen sharing among a small group of other Skype users.

Computer Speakers

Computer speakers for listening to audio or video content and for engaging in online meetings.

Computer Microphone

Computer microphone (usually built-in to most laptops) for communicating during online meetings.

Optional Software

Microsoft Word (not required) word processing software which saves files in .DOC, .DOCX or .RTF format.

Microsoft Powerpoint (not required) presentation software which has ability to save/print presentation files in .PDF, .PPT or .PPTX file format.

Microsoft Excel (not required)spreadsheet software for spreadsheet files formatted as .XLS or .XLSX.
